More than passwords…

All authentication starts with a good first layer of protection, passwords. 63% of data breaches involve weak or stolen passwords, according to a 2017 Verizon data breach study. But cyber criminals can guess or intercept passwords utilizing different techniques, ranging from password spraying to man-in-the-middle attacks. There are additional security measures which can protect you even if an attacker does obtain your password. Also, you can strengthen that first layer of protection by avoiding passwords based on personal information; using the longest password or passphrase possible (8–64 characters); and not sharing your passwords with anyone else, including using the same password for multiple sites.

Additional security –

Even if an attacker obtains your password, if you start employing extra protection through the use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The idea behind using MFA is similar to requiring two or more forms of identification or two keys to open a safe deposit box. Authentication categories include something you know (e.g., answers to questions or passwords); something you have (e.g., a time based random token or other item in your possession); and something you are (e.g., a biometric measure such as a fingerprint).

MFA is not just for the larger companies!

Businesses with limited IT resources need an MFA solution that falls
within their price range, that is easy to deploy and support. The key is offering an MFA solution that’s affordable, and easy to deploy and manage, to address the perceived difficulties that keep businesses owners and IT decision-makers from embracing MFA. Ultimately, modern MFA is no longer an optional precaution; it is a business requirement.

Watchguard AuthPoint

Let Helixeon assist you in implementing WatchGuard AuthPoint™, thereby blustering your security knowing that it doesn’t rely on weak or stolen passwords. This solution addresses a common security gap with multi-factor authentication (MFA) on an easy-to-use Cloud platform. With a simple push notification, the AuthPoint mobile app makes each login attempt visible, allowing the user to accept or block access right from their smartphone. Furthermore, AuthPoint is a Cloud service, so there’s no expensive hardware to deploy, and it can be managed from anywhere using WatchGuard Cloud’s intuitive interface. Our ecosystem offers dozens of integrations with 3rd party applications – ensuring that MFA protection is broadly applied for access to sensitive Cloud applications, web services, VPNs and networks.
